Tashkent, Samarkand & Bukhara Itinerary 2026: 7 Days
November 3, 2026
Quick answer: Tashkent, Samarkand and Bukhara fit comfortably into 6 nights and 7 days: 2 nights in Tashkent, 2 in Samarkand and 2 in Bukhara, with fast trains linking them. Indians currently need an e-visa for Uzbekistan (a 30-day visa-free entry has been announced but was not confirmed in force at the last check), so apply before you fly. Our 6-night Tashkent, Samarkand and Bukhara tour starts from ₹70,000 per person on twin sharing (excluding GST), and our 5-night Tashkent and Samarkand tour from ₹52,500.
Uzbekistan's three big cities show three sides of the Silk Road: Tashkent is the modern capital, Samarkand has the blue-domed Registan and mausoleums, and Bukhara has a walkable old town of mosques, madrasas and trading domes. The distances are manageable, and a high-speed train links all three, so you spend your time in the cities rather than on the road.

A 7-day plan
Day 1: Fly from India to Tashkent (about 3 to 5 hours, direct or with one stop). Check in and take an evening walk.
Day 2: Tashkent city tour: the old and new city, the metro, bazaars and parks.
Day 3: Train to Samarkand. Afternoon at the Registan and the nearby sights.
Day 4: Samarkand: Gur-e-Amir, the Shah-i-Zinda necropolis and the bazaar. See the Registan again after dark.
Day 5: Travel to Bukhara by train or road. Evening walk around the old town pool and trading domes.
Day 6: Bukhara: the Ark fortress, the Kalyan complex, madrasas and bazaars.
Day 7: Train back to Tashkent and fly home, or add a night in Tashkent.
This is a sample plan, not a fixed itinerary. We adjust the order and the number of nights to your dates, and many travellers drop Bukhara for a shorter Tashkent and Samarkand trip.
How the trains work
Tashkent to Samarkand: the high-speed Afrosiyob train takes a little over 2 hours.
Samarkand to Bukhara: about 1.5 to 2 hours by train; schedules differ between the Afrosiyob and slower trains, so confirm the timetable.
Tickets: the Afrosiyob is popular, especially in spring and autumn. Tickets are normally booked ahead; with a package, we arrange them.
At the station: arrive at least 30 minutes early, since luggage and passport checks can mean queues.
Train times and fares change. Confirm the current timetable with Uzbekistan Railways or your tour operator before you finalise your plan.
Visa
Indian passport holders currently apply for the Uzbekistan e-visa before travel, which allows a stay of up to 30 days. A 30-day visa-free regime for Indians was announced on 30 August 2026, but at the last check no general start date or official order had been confirmed. The Indian Embassy in Tashkent said on 14 September that Indian citizens holding valid multiple-entry visas from select countries may stay in Uzbekistan visa-free for up to 30 days, and that other Indian citizens still need a visa. Read our Uzbekistan visa guide for the latest and apply for the e-visa unless the official rule is in force. Travels Mantra's Uzbekistan visa assistance starts from ₹4,500; see our visa assistance page.
