Uzbekistan Visa for Indians 2026: e-Visa & 30-Day Visa-Free
October 11, 2026
Quick answer: As of October 2026, Indians still need an Uzbekistan e-visa unless the new 30-day visa-free regime has been formally put into force. The regime was announced on 30 August 2026 during Prime Minister Modi's visit to Tashkent, but at the time of writing no start date or official order had been confirmed. The e-visa allows a stay of up to 30 days, is valid for 90 days from issue and is usually processed within 2–3 working days. Check the official portal and your airline before you fly.
Uzbekistan is one of the easiest Central Asian countries for Indian travellers to visit, and its visa rules are changing in your favour. This guide covers the e-visa you can apply for today and the visa-free announcement that could make it unnecessary.
The August 2026 announcement: what we know
Uzbekistan's president announced a 30-day visa-free regime for Indian citizens during talks with Prime Minister Modi in Tashkent on 30 August 2026, described as reciprocal. Reports at the time agreed on the headline but not on the details:
Some outlets said it applies immediately; others said the formal order and effective date had not been issued.
As of 31 August, Uzbekistan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs had not yet added India to its list of visa-exempt countries, and the e-visa portal still listed India as eligible for the e-visa.
Reports suggest it will cover tourism and possibly business trips of up to 30 days, but details on passport validity, proof of funds and registration are still to come.
Airlines and hotels may still ask for an e-visa until the official order is published.
Our advice: until the official decree is published and your airline confirms it, apply for the e-visa. It costs little and removes the risk of being refused boarding. We will update this page when the rule is confirmed.
How the Uzbekistan e-visa works for Indians
Where to apply: the official Uzbekistan e-visa portal, e-visa.gov.uz. Be wary of lookalike sites that add large fees.
Stay allowed: up to 30 days for tourism.
Validity: 90 days from the date of issue, which is the window in which you must enter; it does not extend your stay beyond 30 days.
Form: issued digitally by email and not stamped in your passport. Print it and carry it.
Processing time: usually about 2–3 working days. Apply at least a week before you fly to allow for problems.
Government fee: published figures put a single-entry e-visa at about US$20, with double and multiple-entry options costing more. Confirm the current fee at checkout on the official portal; agency charges are extra.
Documents and information to have ready
Passport valid for at least six months, with the bio page scanned
A recent passport-style photo
Travel dates and the address of your first night's accommodation
An email address you check regularly, and a debit or credit card for the fee
Other ways Indians can enter without an Uzbek visa
A narrower easing was also announced: Indians holding certain valid multiple-entry visas from countries such as the US, UK, Canada, Japan, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand or the Schengen area may be allowed to stay up to 30 days without an Uzbek visa from 1 September, provided they hold an onward ticket. Visa-free transit of up to five days is also possible under conditions. These have fine print, so check the details against the official source before relying on them.
