Georgia Visa for Indians 2026: e-Visa, Fee, Documents
November 2, 2026
Quick answer: Indian passport holders need a visa for Georgia and there is no visa on arrival. The usual route is the online e-visa at evisa.gov.ge. It costs about US$35 in total (US$20 plus a 2% service fee and a US$15 identity-verification fee, per the portal) and takes at least 5 working days to process (guides report up to about 10). Some Indians who hold a valid visa or residence permit from countries such as the US, UK, Schengen area, Canada, Australia, Japan, South Korea or certain Gulf states can enter without a separate Georgian visa. Since 1 January 2026, every visitor must also carry health and accident insurance of at least 30,000 GEL for the whole stay. Confirm every detail on the official portal before you pay.
Georgia is one of the most popular short trips from India: Tbilisi's old town, wine country and the Caucasus mountains, often combined with Baku or Armenia. The visa is simple, but fees, processing times and entry conditions are described differently across websites. This guide explains the process and tells you what to verify on the official portal.

How the Georgia e-visa works
Apply online at the official Georgian e-visa portal, evisa.gov.ge. Avoid agency sites that add service fees on top of the government fee.
Fee: the portal lists US$20 plus a 2% service fee, and a separate US$15 identity-verification fee (DuVerify), so about US$35 in total. The fee is not refundable. Read the live amount at checkout.
Identity verification: the portal asks you to complete an identity check after you apply. The portal says the DuVerify step must be completed within 24 hours of the first step, so keep your passport and phone ready when you submit.
Processing time: the official portal says a decision takes at least 5 working days, and guides report up to about 10. Apply at least two to four weeks before you fly, and earlier in the summer months.
Stay: sources describe a stay of up to 30 days per entry, and some describe a longer validity window. The portal states the exact type, so read it before you pay.
Delivered by email. Print the approval and carry it with your passport.
Who can skip the Georgian visa
Guides report that Indian citizens holding a valid visa or residence permit from certain countries can enter Georgia visa-free for up to 90 days in any 180-day period. The application form on the official portal lists the countries concerned: the US, the UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, South Korea, Israel, the Schengen states and several Gulf states (Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the UAE), with conditions on the type and validity of the document. These rules change, so check the current list on the official portal or with the Georgian embassy before relying on an exemption.
What to prepare
Passport valid for at least six months, with blank pages
A recent passport-style photo
Return or onward ticket and confirmed accommodation details
Proof of funds, such as a recent bank statement, in case you are asked
Travel health and accident insurance covering the whole stay (see below)
A card for the fee, and an email address you check regularly
The 2026 insurance rule
From 1 January 2026, foreign visitors to Georgia must hold health and accident insurance covering the whole stay, from arrival to departure, with a minimum cover of 30,000 GEL (roughly US$11,000). The policy can come from a Georgian or a foreign insurer, can be on paper or electronic, and must be in English or Georgian. Buy it before you travel and keep a copy on your phone and a printout. Details on how strictly it is checked at the border vary between sources, so treat it as a firm requirement.
Final entry is decided by border officers, even with an approved visa. Carry your return ticket, hotel bookings, proof of funds and insurance in one folder, and answer questions plainly.
Common mistakes
Missing the identity-verification step, which can invalidate the application.
Applying too late. Allow at least two to four weeks, longer if you are arranging other visas.
Typos in passport details, which can invalidate the visa.
Travelling without insurance that meets the 30,000 GEL minimum.
Relying on old guides. The fee, the exemption list and the insurance rule have all changed in the last two years.
