Georgia and Armenia Trip from India 2026: Itinerary & Visa

November 2, 2026

Quick answer: Georgia and Armenia make an easy two-country trip of about 8 days: roughly 4 nights in Tbilisi and 3 to 4 nights in Yerevan. Indians need a visa for both countries, so apply for both at least 3 to 4 weeks ahead. Most travellers go between the capitals by road in roughly 5 to 7 hours (sources differ) or by a short direct flight, since the passenger train is slower and runs on a limited schedule. Our 7-night, 8-day Tbilisi and Yerevan journey is priced from ₹49,290 per person.

Tbilisi has an old town of balconied houses, sulphur baths and fortress views, with wine country and the Caucasus mountains a day trip away. Yerevan has a pink-stone city centre, monasteries carved into the hills and a close view of Mount Ararat on clear days. The two capitals are close enough to combine without rushing, and the contrast between them is the reason people do both.

Visas for both countries

  • Georgia – What Indians need: An e-visa at evisa.gov.ge (some holders of a valid visa or residence permit from certain countries are exempt). Health and accident insurance of at least 30,000 GEL is required from 1 January 2026.; Read more: Georgia visa guide

  • Armenia – What Indians need: An e-visa at evisa.mfa.am, with insurance and extra conditions for Indian applicants. There is no visa on arrival.; Read more: Armenia visa guide

Georgia's e-visa takes longer (at least 5 working days, up to about 10 according to guides) than Armenia's (about 3 working days), so start with Georgia. Travels Mantra's Georgia visa assistance starts from ₹10,500 and Armenia from ₹3,000; see our visa assistance page.

Getting from Tbilisi to Yerevan

  • Road (shared minibus, coach or private car) – Time: About 5 to 7 hours including the border; Notes: The most common route. The main crossing is at Sadakhlo on the Georgian side. Fares, timings and comfort vary by operator, so confirm before you go.

  • Direct flight – Time: A short flight of roughly an hour; Notes: The fastest option. Fares vary with how early you book; allow time for airport transfers.

  • Train – Time: Around 10 hours; Notes: Reported to run on a limited schedule and slower than the road. Confirm the timetable with Armenian Railways before planning around it.

Timetables, fares and border practice change often. Confirm the current schedule with the operator, your hotel or us before you book transport.

Best time to go

  • Spring and autumn (April to June, September to October) are the most comfortable for city walks, monasteries and wine country.

  • Summer is hot in the cities, though the mountains stay cooler.

  • Winter suits ski trips and snowy city breaks, but some mountain roads can close.
